Cookies that I thought Sabrina would like
Here’s a list of everything Sabrina likes:
- Chocolate Chips
- Coconut
- Rice Krispies
- Oatmeal
- Golden Raisins
Here’s what happens when you combine all of those things into a cookie:
“Mommy, I don’t like these.”
Say what? I thought I would make something really different and exciting to surprise her with but the surprise was on me!
I asked her the reasoning behind her dislike for these toasty, golden gems of goodness.
In true 10 year old fashion, she said, “I like all of these things, but not mixed together.” Hmmm.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies - adapted from Mom’s Big Book of Cookies
¾ c flour
½ tsp. baking soda
1 ½ c. oats
Pinch of fresh nutmeg
½ c. butter
½ c. brown sugar
¼ c. granulated sugar
1 egg
½ tsp. vanilla
½ c. each - golden raisins, chocolate chips, rice krispies and shredded coconut
Stir together flour, baking soda, oats, nutmeg and set aside. In a large bowl, melt butter in microwave, then stir in both sugars until well blended. Add egg and vanilla, stir well. Stir in the flour mixture until almost combined, then add mix-ins and stir well.
I used my large cookie scoop to portion these out, but obviously you can use any size scoop you like. I baked mine at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Adjust the cooking time as needed.
And I hope you get a better response than I did!

My son is the same way. I have had many untouched plates of casseroles, soups, etc filled with things he loves…”just not together.” They look great to me.

I aptly noticed the use of nutmeg instead of cinnamon. A girl after my own heart! You know how I feel about cinnamon!
