Mocha Chocolate Chip Cookies
7 Nov
For the past several years, I always begin my day with a mocha cappuccino, either on ice (in the summer), or hot (in the winter).
Fortunately, I have found a reliable pusher source for my daily caffeine fix, since my parents bought David an automatic espresso machine for his birthday 2 years ago. He even taught the kids how to steam the milk, and Alexander makes cappuccinos for dinner guests like a one-trick pony.
So when I came across these cookies on Zoe‘s blog, I knew they were right up my alley. Her recipe is a modification of Jacques Torres’ famous chocolate chip cookies, which I have actually had in my stack of recipes to try.
I think I overbaked these by about 3 minutes, since they were more crunchy than chewy, but I also formed mine using a dough scoop instead of her slice and bake method.
They have an excellent mocha flavor, perfect with a morning or afternoon coffee. The kids also love them dipped in a glass of milk. And while I can’t say I will use the exact recipe again, considering it calls for bread flour and cake flour, these were definitely worth trying.

What a great pick me up!!
They look scrumptious. We are big espresso lovers in our house too. Such a great pairing with chocolate.
I love cookies with coffee in them. I just made some of my mocha balls and (sadly) shipped most of them to my daughter who’s in college in New York. But, she and her friends thought they were terrific. I will need to make more now, and try yours as well.
Yum!
