TWD – Buttery Jam Cookies

16 Dec

Another week of cookies ~ thanks to Heather for this weeks Tuesdays With Dorie. Unfortunately, I don’t have much to say about them (which is unusual for me, I know). They were nice……….not thrilling…………but nice.

I used strawberry preserves (no apricot in the house), and added a pinch of ginger. These didn’t spread at all, so I’m not sure if I did something wrong – but they came out of the oven the same way they went in. They seemed to be lacking something, too. Maybe they just needed more preserves? Or should it have been swirled in towards the end of the mixing, so it would be more defined?

Eh, they can’t all be spectacular, and this is why I ALWAYS go for the chocolate desserts. See, there is a method to my madness.

Coming up next week – butterscotch pudding – made with butter and real scotch (as opposed to fake?). This should be interesting!

You’re totally right… they can’t all be winners! Nice method… chocolate definately seems to be no fail! :)

Maybe dipped the bottoms in chocolate would help? Or a nice drizzle on top – yum!

I pumped up the flavor in mine.

    I also used strawberry jam.

    Yours look great.

I don’t think you did anything wrong — I just don’t think these are really “knock your socks off” cookies. But that didn’t stop me from eating them. I’m with you — bring on the chocolate!

Nice but not thrilling…my thoughts exactly! Oh well, they look great anyway. I’ve made the pudding already, and it is GOOD.

Yep, not the greatest cookie. I totally added a bunch of different toppings to mine. I didn’t think they were buttery enough, or even sweet enough, but oh well. Glad I tried them. Tucked them in the freezer for Christmas giveaways.
Love the Vegas snow! We live in Kansas now and are getting some good snow today, but used to live in AZ for five years. Saw snow once there, about an inch or so of it, we went outside with the kids, just wore sweats, it wasn’t that cold, made about a two foot tall snowman as fast as we could, took pictures and he melted away by noon! Enjoy your snow! ;)

I pretty much had the same reaction. I’m a chocolate desserts girl too :)

I felt the exact same way about mine. They needed a bigger flavor kick!

They definitely needed something more for me. And, really, can you ever go wrong with chocolate?

Mine didn’t spread at all either. However, we kind of liked them. Plain and simple!

I am glad I was not the only one whose cookies stayed the same shape before and after the oven. At least you tried them, right? I’m a little nervous on the Butterscotch pudding!

Your cookies look beautiful! Mine were a little boring too, I used apricot but later realized that cherry may have provided the taste I was looking for.
    Next week should be interesting!

Your cookies look great! I have to agree, these were kind of meh… I’m actually excited and super curious about this butterscotch pudding!
