Brown Sugar Vanilla Ice Cream

5 Jul

Good Sunday morning to you! I hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th of July – we sure did, but the kids stayed up waaaaay too late. I don’t think Alexander has ever been up until 11:00 p.m. And unless he sleeps in, it will make for a very long day!

However, you came by for ice cream, so let’s talk about this weeks’ Sweet Melissa Sundays recipe – hand picked by Karen at Karen’s Cookies Cakes and More. She chose Brown Sugar Vanilla Ice Cream with Hot Fudge Sauce. I’ve actually made the hot fudge sauce before – several times, in fact, and I like it because it doesn’t require me to keep heavy cream on hand (like most sauce recipes), and it’s so wonderfully chewy and chocolatey.

The ice cream was something new, though – and I have to admit, the brown sugar gave it a richer flavor than I expected. The kids really liked it – so much, in fact, that I had to snag Alexander’s bowl and take a quick shot before the ice cream was all gone.

Sprinkles are mandatory in our house.

This was a great choice – one which I’ll definitely be making again. To see how the other SMS bakers fared with their ice cream, click here.

Thanks for the tip on the hot fudge sauce. I don’t usually have cream on hand either, so I’ll have to try that recipe next time.

Ooh, I’ll have to try that one. We just had brownie sundaes with hot fudge last night. Wish I would have had this recipe then. I really need to get the SM book. It’s on my Amazon list, I just need to hint to my husband that I “NEED” it before the next occasion/holiday. ;)
Of course, our sundaes had to have sprinkles, too!

Are you sure you can’t adopt me so that I can move in and take part in all of this awesome ice cream eating and making? This looks like one of my favorite flavors yet.

I’ll have to bookmark this so I remember to try it. My husband just celebrated a birthday and I got him an ice cream maker! We haven’t tried it yet, but I know he’s got something on his mind for the trial batch.

Wow does your ice cream look super yummy. I love the hot fudge sauce poured over the top and the colorful sweetness! Very nice.
I was bummed that my ice cream maker crashed and burned. I would have liked to have made this. I will need to buy another maker just to try this one out!

Thanks for making this with me. I love both the ice cream and the hot fudge. I’m definitely making this again, especially with all that skim milk powder that i have.

It looks great with the fudge sauce and sprinkles! I didn’t get around to making the fudge sauce before the ice cream was gone, but I’m definitely making this one again.
